Avengers Vs. Avengers! A running theme during these “Initiative” branded issues. Wel, the Hand busts in on the New Avengers, and Spider-Man says “Maybe we should go back and fight Brother Voodoo.” Then we flashback to the 2 Avengers teams sizing each other up at the Raft, where Tony tells them they’re all under arrest.

They finally managed to get Ares, God of War in there. He was a bit player in Thor and Hercules material over the years who was elevated to the big leagues for this team. Very different than those other gods. Well, Doc Strange makes all the Mighty Avengers see their worst nightmares. Sentry sees the Void, Wonder Man sees his brother, Grim Reaper, etc. Iron Man sees a zombie Captain America. Then they all wake up and realized they got got. The News were teleported back to Dr. Strange’s house, where they told Jessica it was a trap, then didn’t know what to do. When the Mighty team shows up looking for them, Strange casts a glamour that makes the inside appear empty, even as the New Avengers are there.

Jeryn Hogarth there completely outmaneuvers Iron Man twice and forces them to leave empty handed. Then Dakota North shows up. Last seen ‘round these parts in Web of Spider-Man 37! She’s now working as an investigator for Nelson & Murdock. Matt will have an affair with her while his wife is in the hospital for mental issues. He’s quite a guy!

So they decide to get to Japan by having Strange teleport them into Danny’s private plane. Wolverine says they may have to get their hands dirty if they want to effect real change in Japan, and if the others aren’t willing to go that far, they shouldn’t come at all. Then Strange senses something.

Thin ice! But he is called “Brother Voodoo”…

Now there’s an angle. What’s Luke going for here? We shall see.
