Drew Hennessy is sole inker this month. How much more out of control can this get? Well, to begin, Carnage has just attacked Nick Fury’s squad of Spider-Slayers in a big 2 page splash. And might I say, this is a much more reasonable application of Spider-Slayers. This story is like a clearing house for bad ideas, and yet they all work now. Truly a marvel.

Peter refuses to back down, even as a Spider-Slayer zaps him with something Tinkerer says will shut down his nervous system. Fury says Peter has become more trouble than he’s worth, and seems ready to just shoot him when his gun explodes.

Does Sue really HAVE to have her shirt open, guys?

The standoff continues, and when Sue hears an old woman is dying in the house, she runs in, force field keeping the goon squad away. Unforgivably, this happens in one of Bendis’ beloved 2-page spreads, which he began using to stop ads from interrupting his story beats, and Marvel just put a stupid 4-page insert in the middle of this spread, anyway. A stupid insert for a stupid event that I guess I’m gonna have to decide what to do about, like, immediately. But that’s neither here nor there. Sue gets a very shellshocked Richard and Aunt May out of there, making a force field stretcher for May and protecting the 3 of them. She tells Peter she’s taking his loved ones to a hospital, and as he thanks her profusely, she says he’d do the same. Then Johnny asks if Peter wants to get out of here, and he says, “no.”

Carnage is now Gwen again, and collapses. Fury tells Peter he has to be taken in. That he’s now at the center of the biggest genetic disaster since the Hulk became the Hulk. Peter wants to know what he did, and Fury says he didn’t do anything, it was his clones. Speaking of!

Seemed like things might get a little bit less insane, but nope!
