It couldn’t be all fun’n’games for long! But before we get to that, we got this:
after the brainless slaughter of so many characters in Ultimatum… it’s rough out there. But one assumes the woman who just had that phone call won’t turn a blind eye to Bobby’s plight. Now it’s time to get back to the bridge, where our man is internal monologuing about how he’s in a bad way and can’t get up and doesn’t even know why Mysterio set a trap for him as Mysterio prepares to unmask him.
What a kick!
Yeah, it’s not Ultimate The Hood. It’s Kitty in yet another wacky outfit. The explosion is a fake generated to cover Mysty’s escape, but Spidey doesn’t by it, forcing him to do his disappearing act with an audience. Our rattled but intact hero tries to talk to the mystery person he knows very well, but she is coy and points at a thing on the ground.
A hero’s work is never done! Cut to Kitty and her Mom having a spirited argument about how or if they could take Bobby in, and it’s not going well. But after a few rounds, Kitty has an idea. What is it? We don’t know yet, because we’re off to…
Great last panel there. Captain Quaid eventually admits he can use the evidence. And when Spider-Man makes it clear he believes the whole fracas today was Mysterio trying to get him specifically, Quaid says now they have something. And then we’re off to…
Here we are interrupted by an ad for Siege: The Cabal that asks “Who Is Norman’s Secret Weapon?” with pictures of various characters it obviously is not, like Odin and Thanos and the Beyonder, advertising a book that didn’t even answer the question. 0/10. I am so glad that nonsense is (mostly) behind me.
I just think Aunt May’s Home For Wayward Superheroes is the most fun idea. I love it. Are the cops ever gonna circle back to having arrested her before? I don’t remember. Anyway, one more page:
Let the record show that this twist is real bad for the eventual revelation of Mysterio’s deal. But that’s for later.
