Pretty good cover! Got the mood and all. We open on JJJ waking up in a dumpster, unsure what’s happened, then remembering the Goblin. The Goblin who tied him up and threw him in this dumpster and otherwise harassed him til he passed out, but also gave him what looks to be Peter Parker’s childhood journal, making it all worth it. Now JJJ just has to get back to the city from wherever he is with no phone or wallet.

Having fun. Meanwhile, on the very next page:

Well, that’s random.

We sure got to this early.

Didn’t Peter say he couldn’t find MJ in the main book? She’s all over his life. Cash grabs, man. There’s an insufferable chat show called “MUTANTS?” “Today on HUMANS with Regis & Kathy Lee…” Hey, that was a dated reference when this came out, I’m really on fire today. Well, looks awkward, alright. Peter comes over to try to smooth things over. George says he was a cop for 35 years, and if Peter were hiding something, he’d know it. Yer a bad cop, George! The MUTANTS host and MJ quietly judge the Stacys for not being nicer to Peter, and then he’s shown security footage of JJJ being taken by the Goblin last night. Thus, he flashes back to his youth, where he’s very upset about all the mean things the Bugle says about him.

Very odd 4th panel. I guess someone’s taking down that dart board behind them, but it just kinda reads out of nowhere. Well, JJJ is flashing back to how utterly terrible Peter has been to him over the years, then gets in an argument with a hot dog vendor about getting a ride into town. Meanwhile, Rhino has pinned Crusher Hogan to a wall to interrogate him over nothing, and apparently gets so mad he accidentally kills him. This is really fun stuff.

Then JJJ hops the turnstyle in the subway, acting crazy. Then Peter is informed and goes to find him, in costume, saying he still has a movie to promote. He just misses JJJ as he is mobbed by fans. Then Jonah runs into someone else.

Well, I’m sure this already superfun series gets even more fun from here. Why did I do this?
