Same gang from last month is bringing it home this time. We open this month on 2 pages of the Torch recapping the FF’s part of Ultimate Origins, and reiterating his belief that Rick is the chosen one. Rick has his 2nd vision of one of the Watcher sticks since he woke up, and…

The boys continue trying to make Rick think they understand what he’s going through, that it’s cool, and then start telling him he has to pick a codename, and they are really bad at this. Rick again demands to see where Johnny saw the alien, and before long, he’s warping them all to Wyoming and Project Pegasus. Spider-Man asks Rick how he does that, and he says he doesn’t know. They notice no one’s around and it looks like someone’s blown the front doors open. Inside, down a long dark hallway, they see a light, and hear people talking.

The Serpent Squad, apparently. Some of them, at least. I don’t know what the thing that looks like a commemorative plate with a piece of cheese on it is, but we got an Infinity Gauntlet, an Ultimate Nullifier, what looks like a Cask of Ancient Winters, and a Wand of Watoomb.

Oh right. I had already flushed the vile experience of Ultimate Power 1 from my mind, but Johnny is right. Anyway, there are many pages of fighting and also Johnny and Bobby hitting on the snake women until Rick teleports one of them outside. Why do they all insist on calling them “lizard ladies” when literally all they know about them is they have a snake name as a group? It’s their 2nd appearance and we still don’t get their names. When One Of The Snake Women lands outside, she finds a buncha guns in her face.

Ultimate Wendell Vaughn still hasn’t found the other “a” in his name.

Well, Rick has plopped them back in his backyard. He briefly considers calling himself “Marvel Man,” then his mom runs out, and he explains to here that he has to go figure out what he is. He says he’ll come home when he knows what he is.

And that’s it for USM in this block, if you can believe it, after just 8 issues. Because, for our 3rd USM block in a row, we have to give a lot of time to a different Ultimate title. But unlike all those other times, this one’s actually fun.
