So much Siege, so little Siege. The usual suspects at the helm, and I guess Bullseye’s gonna try to kill Lindy now. I don’t… fully recall. I recall some. Well, it’s 2 days ago, and it’s also the meeting scene of Siege: The Cabal, except this time, we see who Norman’s shocking guest was, and…

…it’s just the Void. What a not-surprise for the reader, if not the other people at the table. The scene continues to play out more or less the same, except this time, we see Norman demand the Void turn into the Sentry for the optics of the situation, and while the main plot is going, we see Bullseye commandeer a helicopter to “get Lindy to safety” while the building is under attack by lil’ robots or whatever. Hand sees this and tries to have the Avengers Quinjet full of his fellow fake Avengers follow them, but he eludes them… somehow? Suddenly, and for no obvious reason, the book takes on a more painterly quality, Rain Beredo really getting to show off over Deodato’s lines.

It’s actually a pretty interesting example of the dramatically increased role of color in comics, and how different things can be with even the same artists.

Bendis’ weird obsession with having bad guys insult women’s appearances would work a lot better if anyone he worked with besides Mark Bagley knew how to draw (or, you know, trace a 3D model of) a woman that wasn’t standard superheroine face & body type. Comics by Deodato and his ilk look like when people make comics by posing action figures and taking pictures of them, ya know?

Bullseye watches Lindy fall into the ocean, and then we go back to the plot from The Cabal, still in progress. Then an ad for the new Avengers comic replacing Dark Avengers runs before this silly event is even over, classic Marvel, and then…

The fact that all of this is meant to have happened in that Cabal comic, but we just didn’t see it, is just so jarring. I mean, I guess there’s nothing to say it didn’t happen or whatever, it’s just… kind of a large event to be skipped over for later.

Thus does Victoria “Dumb Dumb” Hand begin to suspect that maybe the deranged mass murderer she works for and the deranged mass murderers he employs might not be the heroes she inexplicably insists they are despite knowing they are deranged mass murderers. What a twist. I’m so glad this business is almost over…
