Three posts into Siege without an issue of Siege. It just seems funny to me, I guess I’m going to keep bringing it up. We begin “three days ago” with Victoria Hand once again confronting Norman Osborn about how he’s doing too much, has a history of not handling stress well, and allowed her to look for a therapist for him. One could talk at length about Hand constantly acknowledging the many reasons Osborn is unfit for this job without ever presenting any reasons he is, for him or the audience, but I’m sure I’ve harped on that enough.
“You’ve already done such amazing things!”
Hand talks about how Moonstone is dallying with various men on the team “as an act of aggression” against Norman, and he tells her to go take care of it as she sees fit. He also asks her to get him an update on Ares’ attack plans for Asgard, which is the first she’s heard of that. She says he doesn’t have the authority to attack Asgard, and he tells her not to push her luck. Then Hand and various goons arrive at the conference room, where Moonstone doesn’t take kindly to being told off, and Hand shoots her with a ray gun. Pretty hard, apparently.
It’s the Sentry and/or Void, of course, as in the end of last issue. This gets a 2-page splash followed by a silent page of panels zooming in on Bob in the middle of the blob (That was for me), until Osborn’s voice appears in the last panel, saying they had a deal. Look at this hilarious pose/camera angle combo on Osborn:
What was Deodato thinking? The fact that his Iron Patriot is such a human body because Deo presumably didn’t have access to a convincing Iron Man model is so funny.
It just… Why would any of them help people? What did Osborn and Sentry help each other build? So little of this whole status quo made any sense. They argue and stuff keeps blowing up and the villains really are helping people for some reason for awhile.
Surely that will go well! We’ll see next post. The whole venture continues going in circles. Norman talks Sentry off the ledge every 4 issues. It’s just not exciting comics…
