Can’t leave Civil War behind without the Spider-Man epilogue. The war is over, but he’s still unmasked and on the run. The main book and Cap 25 mentioned various members of Cap’s gang getting pardons to register, but our man doesn’t seem likely to take one, at this point. We open on the sniper ready to shoot MJ through the motel window, but told to wait and see if the primary target comes. Inside, May is answering the phone.

Several pages of snippets of the battle and people reacting, including May & MJ, follow, with various purple prose from Spider-Man laid over it about why they fight and blah blah blah.

Due to scheduling problems and whatnot, this actually hit stands BEFORE Civil War 7. The vagueness is very funny. And continues, as JJJ looks at a board of headlines with potential outcomes like “Captain America Defeated!” and “Iron Man Killed!” before selecting the correct one and saying to run it, but of course, we don’t see it. And continues as a newsperson narrates the aftermath of the battle, including this:

When Civil War 7 finally did come out, and no one died in it, well… This seemed pretty silly. JMS just going off book, as he has for this entire event.

Sniper guy keeps his sights trained on MJ as she quietly pleads with God to send Peter home to her. And as still more news chatter pads out the issue, our sniper guy slowly falls asleep. Crisis averted!

And with that… it’s time for Back In Black.
