This cover is a pretty half-ass reference to Secret Wars #8. Which makes sense, in a way, new costume, and all, but not really. Peter Parker arrives at Liz Allan’s place (A pretty modest suburban home for someone with money. Does she not have money anymore?) as Aunt May lets Chameleon-as-him into Avengers Tower in sequences that are cutting together on each page.

They always got May making food for bad guys lately. I mean, twice this close together? Back at Liz’s house, her resentment about Peter keeping Spider-Man from her, as if they were always best friends and she didn’t get written out of the book for a long time, coupled with her worry for Normie has her not in the mood to be nice.

Why does he keep calling her “Lizzy?”

So stupid that he’s now remembered his suit can do this. And look at it, it’s just like the black suit it’s a Great Value version of. Peter finds out he’s facing a whole gang also-rans as Scarecrow and Will O’ The Wisp stop Liz & Normie from escaping. But he’s got his hands full with Molten Man, and his fancy new suit doesn’t seem to be making much of a difference.

Haha, Medina gives the dumb suit 4 arms, anyway. Good for you, Angel, the 3-arm thing is so stupid. Felicia makes short work of the other dorks and Spider-Man almost kills Molten Man when he finds out Chameleon is after May, until Black Cat makes the obvious point that going to save her is more important. He stays just long enough to be a jerk to Liz, like she should’ve stood up to 3 costumed crazies and let them kill her son, I guess! And then they’re off.

Inevitably… did you see this coming…?

I sure did. It really is just like when MJ got the drop on him, only worse. My goodness, it’s even drawn by a follower of Todd McFarlane, just like last time. VERY creative.

I think… that’s supposed to be him imagining himself at May & MJ’s graves in that B&W panel, but Medina didn’t bother to show enough of the tombstones. Not ideal! Well, anyway. Z-Lister’s Revenge is over. Aunt May has subdued TWO Spider-Man villains since Aguirre-Sacasa took over. Can he make it three? We’ll see, but first, time to see how grim and unpleasant Peter David can make Friendly Neighborhood under the new status quo…
