Pietro Pieta! Which nerd came up with that idea? Is Pietro gonna die? If you die in a world where Wanda has brought all kinds of people back from dead, would it stick? Let’s find out. I mean, I know the answer, but let’s find out. This month, inks are credited to John Dell, Scott Hanna and Tim Townsend, in that order. We open on another 2-page splash of the goodies vs. the baddies that almost certainly sold for a zillion dollars.

Every single time I see Felicia, my instinct is “Why is Gwen here?” Feel like Wanda’s situation there inspired the look of the “snap” in the Avengers movies. In the comics, people just vanished. Pietro makes the very poor choice of lashing out at Rogue, who seems to have absorbed several different mutant powers and become a real tank. Over the chaos, Dr. Strange senses something and floats away, up to a tower in the castle.

And here you’re getting some formative tissue for Wandavision.

We rewind to the moment Pietro confronted Magneto in issue 1, spending frankly too much time recreating that scene almost in its entirety, then moving past it to Wanda saying, from her bed, that Magneto doesn’t respond well to yelling. She says “her friends” are coming and it will all be over soon, over Pietro’s many protestations, and asks if she’s a coward for not killing herself even though she knows she should. She’s not even sure any of this is real. Dark. Pietro says the 2 of them never had a chance.

There it is, the big twist. Everyone just assumed evil ol’ Magneto remade the world in his image, but it was done TO him, and he seems to sense it, too, based on little hints throughout the series. Strange telepathically asks Emma if she’s hearing all this, and she says to ask where Xavier is, but then, Wanda is shot by a single arrow. And at the same time, Magneto finds Emma & Layla, but before he can attack, they put the whammy on him.

So if you died in an explosion in the real world created by Wanda’s hex, and then she reshapes the entire world and brings you back, and then she kills you in that world, also… are you dead? Down on the field, a deranged Pietro is zipping around almost fighting everyone himself, until a very cross, newly enlightened Magneto appears.

Magneto furiously tosses huge bits of sentinels at his “son,” crushing him to bits while screaming at him, which in turn makes Wanda explode the tower around her so she can see what’s happen, then zoom to his side while incapacitating Magneto along the way with a thought.

The line heard ‘round the comics world. And the world goes white again.
