Another great cover from Epting. His last for the title, sadly. This month, our hero wakes up stuck to a wall in something like a web, thinking like a drone, but resisting as the queen arrives to taunt him.

Bad Guy Lady proceeds to slap our hero around awhile before telling him he’ll forget he was ever a man or ever “lived among them.” He calls her a skank in return, which, again, very out of character. Outside, Spider-Man and the Queen kissing last issue has been caught on film, and is the talk of the town. But one important person hasn’t heard yet…

What is with MJ’s pants? Did May just happen to run into her in this store? That repeated panel does not work. My copy of this book has a blue in spill. A lot to take in on this page. Back at the thing, Nick Fury and some general are overseeing the deployment of a huge military force, and we learn Nick lost contact with Cap in there (It’s sure been awhile since we saw him). Nick’s ready to firebomb the building, but the general says Cap has the situation under control. Then we find him webbed up upside down inside.

Well, this is a nonsensical retcon. Cap and Spidey defend themselves against her drones, Spidey saying all she talked to him about was mating and Cap being alarmed she’s ready to mate (Cap was right across the room, how does he not know?). Spidey tries to attack, and seems, like, Force pushed away by the Queen, who Cap then says has “control over insects and those with the so-called ‘Insect Gene.’” So we’re in full-on 1960s level comprehension of basic science. Then Spider-Man rushes her again, because he’s apparently really stupid now, and starts calling her a skank again, and she says to look behind him.

I am so tired of Paul Jenkins. Fury’s as fed up as me and has a missile launched at her.

Don’t know, don’t care. “Continued,” but not yet. I think it’s funny that Ryan decided one of the straps on Queen’s dress fell down on page one and doggedly kept that consistent for the rest of the issue. This has allegedly been a prologue to Avengers Disassembled. What’s that? As luck would have it, we’re about to find out.
