This month, we open on Kingpin in the hospital, surrounded by reporters who want to know what happened at his building.
Kingpin appears to be covered in toothpicks. I guess those are bandages or stitches or something, but… toothpicks. Elsewhere, the mystery architect of Wilson’s woes is very upset that he’s still alive, but that’s all we know. Then it’s off to follow DD around as he recaps his origin on the way to meet Spider-Man.
“Gob??” British writer spotted! As their scintillating conversation continues, Spidey of all people is the one who tells DD that Nelson & Murdock is the firm Kingpin hired. So, soon enough, Matt Murdock is barging into the hospital room, saying he can’t represent Fisk due a conflict of interest. Fisk tells everyone to clear out.
This is a DD story with Spider-Man guest starring more than a co-headlining thing. Things only get more Daredevil-y as Matt goes outside and meets Foggy, telling him they’re taking the case and that he should go meet with Fisk’s accounting firm in Wisconsin just as Natasha Romanov shows up. Black Widow is going to be Foggy’s muscle, and soon Matt is packing them both into a taxi.
The heroes stalk through the sewer under some typically hardboiled DD narration until they suddenly find themselves in a spotlight being shot at. And as they’re herded into a side tunnel, it turns out there’s explosives in there, which go off.
Owl’s hair is insane! I assume we’re in for quite the super-brawl next issue. It’s amazing I don’t remember a shred of this one…
