Whitey says she doesn’t know what it is, and hitting people isn’t going to change that. So, the “good guys” keep hitting people. Then, confusingly, Jackpot asks what this drug all over the warehouse is, and Whitey says it’s Ebony. Isn’t that the sweat gland also? How is this not clicking for her? Then they run out of people to hit, so they just leave.
Meanwhile, Boomerang and the new Rose are discussing their plans for Jackpot extremely cryptically for 2 guys bein’ bros. Characters obviously hiding information from the readers they don’t know about is so lame. Cut to the next day, when Sara is able to go to the Baxter Building and get a meeting with Reed via her Registration credentials. Remember registration? That sure seemed important for awhile. Reed says this is the 2nd sweat gland he’s seen lately, as Daredevil took one off the Owl and brought it over. DD: not registered. But that doesn’t seem to matter anymore. His had been cooked, tho, so Reed couldn’t get much out of it. This one is nice’n’fresh, tho, so he can find it in his creepy super-DNA database, belonging to the Corruptor. There is a lot of excruciating banter around these plot points. But they still don’t know why someone would buy the Corruptor’s sweat glands.
Cut to Jackpot swinging through the city, feeling bad about being a superhero, but feeling like she has to honor the other Jackpot’s memory. Then she’s home for dinner. Her and her husband have a really awful conversation joking about how her superhero injuries make her coworkers think he abuses her. Great stuff!
We have fun. This new sadistic version of Boomerang is also very 90s. ASM feels stuck in the 70s, but this spinoff is 1995 all over. Boomerang throws his various Boomerangs, inflicting vague and hard to understand wounds on Sara. She rushes him and can’t hurt him at all, which I do not understand. She’s got powers, he just throws things real good. What’s going on here? He says he wants to ask her something.
And that, awkwardly, is the last page of the issue, no “To Be Continued” or nothin’. Only one left to go, thankfully!
