I’m gonna be real here, I did not miss doing paper comics. It’s a lot less efficient. But that’s how we do it.I got pampered.Paul Mounts taps in on colors this month. We open on Osborn taking Luke Cage (And Venom and Bullseye) to the Raft, to interrogate some skrulls about the Jarvis one, but they ain’t talking. So, Osborn has Venom bite a chunk outta one of them and asks again.

So, that guy gives them the warehouse the brass were meeting in during Secret Invasion, and Norman narrates that 5 other skrulls gave him the same info, so he believes it. He’s also learned that this is where they would come and go from Earth, but the teleporter requires someone to operate it, so Jarvis could only have left if he had help. So they stake the place out until, eventually, Jarvis appears.

Well, at least Danielle is ok. Sucks for that guy. Luke looks up and sees the hole in the window, which we follow out to Bullseye across the street, who then gets a whole splash page just to say “Bullseye,” which seems silly to me.

Norman looks vaguely metallic in panel 3.

Luke retrieves the Wrecker’s crowbar from the closet he’s had it stashed in. Uh, how’s that? I assume Bendis is thinking Luke kept it after New Avengers 7, but the Wrecker had it the whole time he was in the Hood’s gang, including New Avengers Annual 2, which certainly didn’t take place at a time when Luke could’ve taken his crowbar and hid it in the Tower. Oops and whatnot. At any rate, he has it now, and he hits Bullseye so hard with it Bullseye is 100% dead, no question, no debate, except he’s not, of course. Then he whacks Venom so hard his turns to goop, and then…

I do like Luke feeling no need to keep his word to a mass murderer. It’s so obvious, but also not what you expect from a superhero comic. No worrying about his principles here. No deal made with the Green Goblin is legally binding. Well, now they’ve brought Daneille back to home base, and everyone’s coo cooing at her, but their happiness is shortlived, as…

So, yeah, the month Dark Avengers 2 comes out, New Avengers makes it to the end of Dark Avengers 1. And Dark Avengers 2 takes the team on a whole other mission unrelated to this. So… This had to happen first. And continue happening first next issue.Which was fine enough when it was all coming out one chapter at a time monthly, but it feels a bit awkward when the first DA issue was clearly setting up a storyline, and we have to pause it to do this.
