Back to the main book, and maybe this month, Spider-Man and Doc Ock will cross paths.
I’d say so! Meanwhile, Kraven the Hunter’s manager is showing him a new graphic of him fighting Spider-Man. Kraven is not into this, but his manager says they have to do something because his demos are slipping. He also suggests Kraven’s girlfriend, apparently called “Wakindi,” should be more in the show. Kraven says this isn’t what he agreed to 2 years ago.
Then we jump ahead one week, where class at school is interrupted by Gwen Stacy being allowed back in. She is made to apologize for her behavior, saying she was just upset by the bullying she saw, but that was no excuse.
The teacher gets them to shut it, but they clearly have a rivalry going now. Then the teacher wants to know if anyone has questions about the superhero assignment.
Liz is not adapting to the new world very well. Meanwhile, Justin Hammer is cruisin’ around in his limo, berating a scientist, Dr. John Skrtic (Named for a friend of Bendis’ and one of our fellow forum users), for not providing him more protection now that someone’s after him. We learn Hammer funded the creation of “that electric boy.”
Ya know, I can’t remember if Sandman ever makes it out of that room. Hm. At any rate, Hammer’s on his way to a photo op. The Mayor is doing a press conference about “The Big Apple Energy Dome Project,” a big thingie to provide New York with abundant clean energy. And we learn Hammer Industries is behind it. We also learn Hammer is sort of a pre-politics Donald Trump-type figure in the Ultimate Universe via his introduction. As he talks about how this will change the city and whatnot, a giant screen behind him shows some technicians in the project. And then one of those guys notices a metal cable he doesn’t recognize.
Eddie Brock, Daily Globe, is going to go the way of the FF we saw in UMTU 9.
Heck of an entrance for Doc Ock. Meanwhile, at Midtown, the school assembly turns out to be the principal announcing Kraven the Hunter will be filming a segment of his show at the school, something Flash is very excited about. Then the principal is rushed a note that some trouble is brewing downtown, and asks everyone to stay in their seats. MJ tells Peter to go. So we follow some police choppers to the dome project, as one of them is told he has a stowaway.
Not the most heroic entrance! Well, the time has finally come. Spidey’s first showdown with Ock didn’t go to well in ASM, let’s see how this Spider-Man fares.
