Here’s what the kids wanted. David Michelinie, Mark Bagley, Randy Emberlin, Bob Sharen on deck. Venom has arrived in New York, and seeing Carnage’s face on a newspaper, starts yelling at it reveals his true self, is spotting by an airport guard, and runs away, smashing through a window. At least he didn’t kill the guy, for a change, I guess. Meanwhile, Cloak is wrestling with the apparent death of Dagger.
Spidey’s thinking about Harry, of course, which segues into a page of recapping. Meanwhile, Carnage is still berating Shriek for trying to kill Spider-Man, who he’s claimed as his own.
Carnage does a weird thing where he seems to be making a Wolverine reference, revealing his face and producing 3 claws from his hand? But he and Shriek make up, while MJ thinks she and Peter can make up until he says he has to go back out after them. MJ is reasonably upset, pointing out he’s badly injured and they just lost someone, but he’s determined. We cut to the murder team killing people in Central Park, and then back to Spider-Man looking for them when he instead spots Demogoblin. He begins to follow him, but Demo catches his reflection in a window, and zooms around the corner, so…
That’s new. Spidey collapse in a heap, driven to despair by the whatever, as a crowd gathers, telling him to get up as Demo closes in. We cut to Venom hearing about the mess in the park on a car radio and heading that way. It’s funny to me how random radios drive so much of the plot in old comics.
Surprisingly, Demo just zooms away, fight over and Spider-Man’s so messed up, he throws in the towel and goes home. Meanwhile, Venom arrives at the park, but he doesn’t know Carnage has a posse now, and is surprised attacked. We jump ahead awhile to Peter and MJ watching the news, Peter worrying he could have helped at the park, MJ worrying he would’ve died. Then someone knocks at the door as Peter thinks he needs to sleep.
Like the houseshoes. MJ’s robe coming open for no reason is shameless.
