CFS101

Hi! Welcome to Comics From Space! (The exclamation point is part of the name. Space is pretty exciting). CFS started as the name for my first webcomic, but from now on it’s just the name of the site where I do whatever I’m doing. CFS currently includes the following:

Closed Galaxy – This is the current comic, the most ambitious project I’ve taken on by far. It takes place in the future, because that seems to be where I like to work, and focuses on a group of teenagers living on a largely unexplored alien planet. It’s more serious than CFS, but still hopefully pretty fun. That’s the kind of stuff I tend to make. It’s been running since 2014. The art changes, uh, dramatically as it goes. I hope that means I’m getting better. But it takes me so long to produce a chapter that my sensibilities seem to change quite a bit between them. It’s all I can do to try to keep the individual chapters looking consistent.

Comics From Space! Classic – I started CFS as a slice of life comic set in the future back in 2009. Even flying through space in the future, work can be pretty boring. It’s the story of a group of people trying to keep themselves sane on long haul deep space missions. I really started to get frustrated with the format and time constraints after awhile, so I closed up shop on that in 2012, but the full archive is available to explore.

Life Drawing (I used to call this Comics From Life) – As insane as it sounds, I’ve drawn at least one comic strip for every day of my life since June 6, 2008.  It’s really weird. Most of them are incredibly boring and I don’t know why anyone would read them, but people do. And not just my Mom, either, people I don’t even know. Maybe one of those people is, or will be, you, I don’t know, but they’re there. Browse through “Some of the more interesting things,” it is what it says it is.

Dewey Vs. The Official Marvel Comics Try-Out Book – I finished a famous artifact of comics history. Just for fun.

All The Spider-Mans I Have – I own a whole lot of Spider-Man comics. I’m reading them all and posting my thoughts. It’s a weird journey through decades of Spidey history!

I’m Dewey, by they way. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil. I’m a graphic artist during the day, and this is what I do at night. I hope you find things to like here. If you do, say hello!
