Peter Parker, having lost his spider powers, suddenly became very ill, went to the hospital, died, then immediately came back to life with his powers restored. This was them pulling a hard 180 on their Ben Reilly plans, and doing it as fast and messy as possible. So with that nonsense as the subplot, all that’s left is the fights. Spider-Man fights the Lizard and a fake the Lizard, created by goofy new psuedo-science. A ridiculous bad girl cliche named Delilah is introduced to menace our hero. Dragon Man shows up. And the newly restored Peter Parker helps Ben fight a bunch of sentinels during Onslaught. Plus team-ups with the Avengers, Fantastic Four and Luke Cage & Iron Fist. Scorpion gets a terrible new costume, Mysterio teams u with Armada and gets a 2nd terrible new costume in a year, the Looter & Swarm return. I tried to draw a lot of the characters like the artist from the books, and didn’t do it well at all! A Mike Weiringo-style Spidey, Sal Buscema’s Fake Lizard & Dragon Man, Luke Ross’s Todd McFarlane impression’s Real Lizard, John Romita, Jr.’s Peter Parker, Mark Bagley’s Delilah. Ultimately, I don’t think you can tell, but if I could just draw like a beloved comic artist at will, I would be a much better artist. Especially way back when I did this, when it was drawing #16. I think I got better at the emulation over the years…
