1966-1967

ASM 41-52, Daredevil 27. Jazzy John Romita slowly makes ASM his own. The introductions of Mary Jane, Daily bugle City Editor Joe Robertson, The Rhino, The Shocker, The Kingpin, and far less notably, the briefly tenured 2nd Vulture, the improbably named Blackie Drago. In Daredevil, Spider-Man is embarrassingly jobbed out to Stilt-Man, of all people. Plus, rematches with Kraven & the Lizard, and Spider-Man makes a disastrous attempt to join the Avengers. Nothing in this one is a copy, but I drew this one right after the Try-Out book, and to me, at least, it looks a lot more solid than what came before. That thing was a very beneficial exercise. This was drawing #11.
