That is one weird moon. Smooth moon. We got a smooth moon now. Tom Palmer pitches in on inks this month, as we being with a page recycling one panel each of the dumb green evil Avengers while Peter narrates that he thinks it was all a distraction. JMS just doggedly refusing to adopt the recap page and leaving the recap in the story. So weird.

Ten years??? Ten years since Hydra was for real??? Oh, the timeline is completely out of whack now. I wonder if Hydra was ever what Straczynski says it was. I don’t know, I don’t read everything. I’ve never known Hydra to be anything but bent on world domination, this whole “They’re just crooks now” thing is left field to me.

Peter manages to immediately guess what happened to Hydra leadership, which is rather absurd, but has to break off his research to go see the opening performance of a new play by “Fettes Gray, “Cats Always Lie,” starring Live Tyler, directed by Robert DeNiro.

They have been photographed by some creepy photog from a tabloid who’s been trying to get into the production for weeks, according to MJ. Peter says not to worry about it, to enjoy the evening and be proud of her work. And then, naturalmente, his Spider Sense goes off. He asks MJ who 2 guys talking are, and she doesn’t know one, and IDs the other as a big pharma guy and theater nerd. Pater has to check it out, and is also clocked leaving by the scummy photog, who is maybe like Eric Roberts?

Would you really wear a ring that’s the Marvel U equivalent of a swastika out in public? Really? Really really?

Spidey handily dodges that guy’s gunfire, but then that guy is hit by a car. How did that lady not see the man firing a machine gun in the street? But then the pharma guy runs up and says he’ll be her witness in court, she & Spidey saved his life, and he’s calling an ambulance.

Is pharma guy John Travolta? This issue looks even sloppier than usual. Maybe a slipped deadline is why they needed 2 inkers. Meanwhile, scummy photog guy has followed MJ home. And noted Peter left “looking upset,” and now notes MJ arriving at Tony Stark’s place. MJ has a quick vision of Peter getting outed over this, and decides to say she’s just there to see Tony Stark. That can’t end well. And then pharma guy turns out to be the new leader of Hydra, to no one’s surprise, and gets in his gren jammies to go meet with various stereotypical bad guys from around the world.

Exposition! Meanwhile, Peter sneaks in, trying not to disturb MJ, but as soon as he’s asleep, she sneaks out, looking for the paper. Wolverine already has it, and a snide comment for her as he hands it over.

Does Wolverine read tabloids? Does MJ subscribe to this? Why didn’t anyone consider what would happen when 3 regular(ish) people moved into Tony Stark’s house? Etc! Palmer doing whole finishes on some pages would seem to confirm my hypothesis about why he’s here. Deadlines are a killer. It’s a testament to him that the pages he worked on didn’t really look out of place.
