Look at that hair! The 80s are back! Spider-Man once again narrates the recap page, now from an issue of Secret Invasion that hasn’t even come out yet? What? And then we get back to it. After a splash of Menace holding Jackpot by the throat…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No idea what’s meant to have happened there, really. Or why Menace just stood there silently for so much of this interaction. Not great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that’s all it takes, now the Skrull thinks Betty is Spider-Man. This is one of the stupidest story beats ever featured on this blog. Good grief. Dexter Bennett hops out of the car and begins berating the alien for its lack of professionalism, pointing out it has no evidence to prove Betty is Spider-Man, and that will get in trouble if it reports it killed Spider-Man on for him to show up again later. Maybe someone should bother to explain why this Skrull wants to kill Spider-Man in the first place. What do I know? Bennett keeps everyone standing there until Menace and Jackpot can come crashing down directly on top of the Skrull, also causing an explosion for some reason, in a coincidence so lazy it has fallen asleep. Jackpot gets back on her feet and comes to check on the others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boy, I hate this comic. Your honor, I’d like to draw the court’s attention to the fact that Ms. Marvel Annual #1<\/a> was published a mere month before this comic, and Brian Reed used this hilarious<\/em> “s\/he’s right behind me, isn’t he?” “joke” in both. This issue is making the previous 2 look like Shakespeare. Cue several pages of often unclear action as the regular people run and Jackpot has a running fight with the Skrull, trying to slow it down. They all end up in a warehouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fight fight fight and she traps it in the freezer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s more witty banter and then Spider-Man leaves. good of him to appear in the comic bearing his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No idea who that was. Isn’t Sara Jackpot? I’m so confused. I don’t even care, this comic was awful. No one even told us why that Skrull was trying to kill Spider-Man! He’s the only person in the whole event who had a Skrull assigned to kill him, for no reason, despite the Skrulls’ plan involving sending him to the Savage Land! I’m so glad I didn’t buy it back in the day. So… so this comic was published alongside Secret Invasion 5-7, takes place entirely during Secret Invasion 3, then ends with an epilogue lightly spoiling some of the end of the event. What a bunch of choices THAT was. Ugh. Whatever. Let’s go look at Secret Invasion 6…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
