Mike Manley takes over inks this issue. Doing the homage without actually doing the homage requires a lot more thought. Kudos to the gang. Well, we\u2019re in the future this month, presumably at or around this Hobgoblin\u2019s point of origin. eE see a devastated surface and people living underground, in what essentially looks like a big mall, and one of the shops is ESU, where 2 people are arguing about saving the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s funny, I doubt the people who make it happen ever saw this, but she\u2019s got a line on a Marvel event far in the future here, sort of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why would this guy call his daughter abbreviated versions of \u201cHobgoblin\u201d if A) She\u2019s his daughter, ad B) She\u2019s not the Hobgoblin yet? This feels\u2026 not great\u2026 Well, he captures her, and she falls to the ground, and then she\u2019s in old timey period clothing, and also in the famous Andrew Wyeth painting \u201cChristina\u2019s World,\u201d lying in the grass, looking at a house. This turns out to be the temporal prison her dad put her in, but her guy there tries to bust her out with a nanovirus. And it goes wrong, of course, and she seems to go crazy, and we are STILL doing this. Who cares, can we get back to the real world yet? First that thing with the crazy stalker lady, then all that time with parallel Uncle Ben, did Peter David want to write Spider-Man or what? Gets loose, goes nuts, attacks guards. Spider-Man confronts love interest, then Hobgoblin appears and tosses a \u201cretcon bomb\u201d meant for her dad, but hitting her lover, wiping him from the timeline, I SO DO NOT CARE. The Spider-Man guy is watching all this on video, feeling bad about it. He\u2019s part of a time control agency like the TVA, and Peter David could have just used the TVA instead of making up the \u201cTNA\u201d to do the exact same thing. They finally get around to learning she\u2019s in 2006, and has pulled the wrong Uncle Ben there, and Spidey 22whatever wants to know what happened to the Spider-Man that Uncle Ben came from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three entire pages of this comic about its main character. Great value. This reads like a backdoor pilot for this other Spider-Man, perhaps Peter David hoping lightning will strike twice on future Spider-Men, perhaps not noticing this one looks extremely dumb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
