That looks like it hurt. Especially since the lenses appear to be attached ot his head via glue or magic. This month\u2019s first page is not at all necessary, storywise, but so utterly baffling I have to show it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So\u2026 so is the premise of this series that he dressed more like Doctor Octopus and had the classic arms when he was not yet Doctor Octopus, but he\u2019s dressed like a vampire and had the suckers that don\u2019t do anything on the arms his entire villain career? So far, this book has just said Doc Ock always wore his new look, the whole time, forget about it, and now he didn\u2019t. They really complicated things with this image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the brightest bulb, our Jeffrey. He\u2019s off to the home of Anna, who has conveniently just gotten out of the shower, to awkwardly ask her to let him back in the evidence room instead of apologizing for upsetting her the other day. He gets slapped in the face, but then lies about wanting to do another gallery show like she said and get back to the place he was when he fell in love with her. This guy\u2019s great, I\u2019m glad he\u2019s our main character. She falls for his abuse of their former trust and takes him to the lock up and tight to Doc Ock\u2019s arms which, again, I really don\u2019t think would be stored here in most comics, given the extreme lengths taken to keep them out of Ock\u2019s influence in the past. Dumb ol\u2019 Jeffrey attaches the thingie Ock told him how to build to the arms, and\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a very CSI line. He\u2019s already wearing sunglasses, too. Queue the Who. Well, Doc Ock\u2019s arms spring to life in the police station, and before Anna can figure out Jeff is a scumbag, they wallop her pretty bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever, man. I am just trying to get to the end of this. I don\u2019t feel bad for Vaughan seeing my comment that this was bad anymore. I\u2019m only including this page\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 to ask what\u2019s going on with the lady in the last panel. Is she shoving a whole pear in her mouth? A potato? What\u2019s the deal? I mean, the drawing was already weird, and then the colorist thinks \u201cI can make this way weirder.\u201d Well, Peter makes his excuse to May and takes off. Nearby, Ock\u2019s arms are rampaging down the street, as they tend to do, with cops standing around unsure what to even do, and then Spider-Man appears. His dashing intro line is interrupted by a tentacle to the gut, smashing him into a wall. He does some dodging around, and then the arms break a hole in the ground, revealing and splitting a powerline. So, Spidey picks that up to zap them, but wouldn\u2019t you know, the Ol\u2019 Parker Luck, I guess, there\u2019s a fire hydrant 2 feet away and the arms break it open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonna feel that in the morning. At Riker\u2019s, the warden has appeared in Ock\u2019s cell with a shotgun, intending to kill him before the arms can get there. A reasonable response, I think, but he hesitates for no discernable reason and is impaled by a tentacle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did Ock take the time to go get his vampire suit, which looks more vampiric than ever, before leaving the prison? Such vanity. How\u2019s he going out in the sun, tho? Let\u2019s see how this boondoggle concludes next month. I am hoping Jeff gets impaled, as well, but I bet he doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
