You could get hints before, but yeah, Eddie sucks! Reconnecting with an old friend isn\u2019t always a good time. I forgot about this period where Marvel was putting ads for \u201ctruth,\u201d the anti-smoking campaign, in the actual art, that\u2019s kind of jarring. Eddie turns on the news and sees Spider-Man on TV in his new black suit and recognizes it as \u201cthe suit.\u201d Really? Like, does \u201cthe suit\u201d give you Spider-Man eyes? Seems like a leap, is what I\u2019m saying. But he can\u2019t believe it, and he rushes back to the lab just in time to find a hooded figure on the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It isn\u2019t Venom if Eddie doesn\u2019t know who Spider-Man is, but this is a much better way to get there. We jump ahead to Peter explaining he stole clothes out of a trashcan to get here, and then giving a long speech about how this thing can\u2019t be controlled, how the world seems full of people trying to be more than human lately, and how this thing their dad created has to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eddie leaves, and Peter takes the good and splits. In a rrrrather loaded sequence, he takes it to a smoke stack and drops it in, just like his dead clone in ASM 149<\/a>. Then he sneaks into the house, puts on normal clothes, and finds Gwen home and May out at a PTA meeting. Gwen asks if he talked to Eddie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we rewind 43 minutes, to Eddie\u2019s side of their parting, as he looks up with crazy eyes and then stalks back into the lab, opening a freezer with his name on it, muttering that the little jerk took it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the nicest guy, this Eddie. One gets the feeling the original Eddie wasn\u2019t such a jerk before he bonded with Venom, but this guy\u2026 not too great.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
